THE MAIN EVENTS OF THE 2012-2013 SEASON FOR ANA
: Over 20 people attend the club’s AGM. All positions declared vacant and following office bearers declared: John Wetzler (president), Linda Day (secretary) and Spiros Koziaris (treasurer). Committee members are Jamie Wills, Neville Jolley, Steven Kukucka (SNR), Daryl Veteha, Ash Felton, Nick Lawriw, Chris Barry & Charlie Hommelhoff. Two senior teams are fielded in the VTCA and one senior team in the WSUCCA. Jamie Wills re-appointed as captain coach. Training begins at the net facility at Angliss Reserve. Zia Nuredini appointed club chef for the season.
Werribee Automotive Group signs on as the clubs Premier sponsor.
Silver Sponsors are also announced. All-Tasks Computer Services, Altona Engineering and Asia Pacific.
Captains appointed by committee are Jamie Wills (A Turf), Dale Wills (B Turf), and Terry Martin (B Grade). (Jack Hale and Henver Ismaili take over captaincy duties for B-Turf and B-Grade respectively when Dale and Terry are promoted to play at a higher level. The club's usual free junior clinic is held at Angliss Reserve on Friday afternoons and they are conducted by Mick Gerring, Russell Holmes, Nick Lawriw, Daniel Nightingale, Liam Nuredini and Terry Martin. Recruitment stalls are held at Altona Gate shopping Centre & Coles Williamstown Rd Yarraville.
: Three Junior teams in U13’s, U15’s & Under 17’s are fielded in the Western Region Junior Cricket Association .Unfortunately there was not enough numbers to field an under 11’s team. Michael Gerring & Russell Holmes appointed Under 13’s Co-Coaches, Michael Cox appointed Under 15’s Coach & Henver Ismaili appointed Under 17’s coach. Junior Captains appointed by coaches are Lee Campbell (Under 17’s), Tom Piccolo (Under 15’s) & Billy Koziairs (Under 13’s). John Verdino takes his 800th wicket while playing in his 300th game. Nick Lawriw notches up his 2000th career run & Billy Koziairs hits his 1000th Junior run. Jamie Wills rips through Avondale Heights in A Turf taking 7/32. Nevzat Ismaili smashes 120 in B Grade against Willi Congs which is also his highest score. In the same game Jeff Selman destroys Willi Congs taking 5 for 7. Harry Halford holds onto his 50th career catch. Under 17’s blasted out for 34 against Gellibrand, which is the lowest score made by an Under 17 team.
: Nick Lawriw clubs 121*, which is also his highest score & Daniel Nightingale hits 104*, both sharing an unbroken 2nd wicket stand of 214* v. Barkly St in A Turf, which is an A turf Club record & overall club record. Daryl Veteha spins a web taking 6/56 v. Sunshine YCW in A Turf. James Nicholson (32*) & Louie Ismaili (32) add 55 for the ninth wicket v. Sunshine White in Under 15’s, which is an under 15 record. Brendan Donald plays his 50th Junior game.
Thierry Cooper takes his 100th wicket. Daryl Veteha mesmerises Kingsville Baptists in A turf taking 6/69. Aaron Siketa notches up his 50th Junior Game.The usual Christmas Family BBQ is held at Angliss Reserve.
Billy Koziairs notches up his 100th game, which is also his 100th Junior game. A turf bundled out for 54 against Werribee Centrals, which is the lowest score made by an A Turf team. Lachlan McDonald (50*), Jacob Latu (58*), Mono Lino (3) add 116 for the third wicket v. Deer Park Ardeer in under 15’s, which is a under 15 Club record. Lee Campbell & Andre Parsons both notch up their 50th Junior game. Club Legend Graham Hodgart invited by Australian Unity Limited (which includes the ANA Fraternal) on Australia Day, to give speech outlining club history.
. Sam Kukucka (91) & Daniel Nightingale (59) add 145 for the third wicket v. Seabrook in A Turf, which is an A Turf club record. Sam Kukucka clubs 133 against St Andrews in A Turf and shares in a 126 sixth wicket partnership with Jamie Wills (50), which is also an A Turf club record. In the same game Jamie Wills & Liam Nuredini tears apart St Andrews Battling line up taking 5/21 & 5/44 respectively. Daniel Nightingale hits his second ton for the year, smashing 100 against Kingsville Baptist in A Turf, while Jamie Wills destroys Kingsville’s battling line up taking 8/72 and snarls his 200th career wicket in the process. While in B turf Michael Muirhead hits maiden ton for the club, amassing 104 against Kingsville Baptist. Robert Nguyen plays his 50th Junior game. Club plays social match against “DNA” made of Junior Under 13 Player Brendan Donald & his Family. ANA just winning with a few balls to spare. Club also holds its annual $1000 Draw which is well supported by ANA members, family and friends. Attendance at the function reached over 100 people.
: .Tom Piccolo holds onto his 50th Junior catch. Australian World Cup winning female cricketer Jess Cameron attends Under 13 training session and takes fielding drills with the boys. The Under 13’s comfortably won the premierships against Spotswood Gold by 60 runs. With Jack Lishman scoring 48*, Mars Lester 41*, Mali Pereira 35 & Joe Kukucka 28, while Jack Lishman taking 3/14. Some brilliant fielding and team pressure applied, enabling five Spotswood batsmen being run out. Also in the same game Jack Lishman, Joel Kukucka & James Amos share in a fifth wicket partnership of 57 runs, which is a Under 13 club record. Under 13’s side is the first side in ANA history to win 3 premierships in arrow.
: The club's Junior Presentation Night is held at Club rooms, attended by over 60 people. Gifts are presented to the junior coaches (Michael Gerring, Russell Holmes, Michael Cox and Henver Ismaili) for their commitment and fantastic work throughout the season. The Senior Presentation Night is held at Williamstown RSL attended by 50 people. Life membership is awarded to Sam Kukucka & Ivan Perkovic. Billy Koziairs wins WRJCA Under 13’s B Friday Sth batting average & Lachlan Green wins WRJCA Under 15’s B Nth champion player.
